The commentary for Pornography and Respect for Women

Pornography is a way to express sexuality. Some people who are shy, unattractive, or physically disabled can gain self-esteem from pornography. However, pornography is not a mere expression of sexuality. It is rather related to prostitution, vulgarity and illegality. Therefore, my viewpoint is that pornography is morally objectionable.
First of all, pornography is nearly another expression of prostitution. If we hear the word ‘pornography’ is shorted loudly in public, we will definitely have a bad impression of this person. The reason is that most people do not consider pornography as a good thing. Moreover, prostitution rather equalizes pornography, and the nature of prostitution is one winning, one losing, one gaining, one suffering, it is not absolutely accepted by people. For prostitution, males gain their sexual desires whereas females become victims. Even females are treated as objects, males give them money, and they serve males. Therefore, most countries in the world do ban prostitution which is a component of pornography.
Besides prostitution, the direct way, pornography films and pictures are indirect but harmful as well. These films can be sold by CD or Internet online-watching. Many countries do not allow pornography films selling such as China. Once CD-makers and sellers are caught, all porn films they have will be expropriated. In porn CD, women are also victims. CD-maker scan earn a lot of money in this way, but it is based on women’s sacrifice. Actually, females are also a kind of goods as they are sold by CD-makers. Comparing to porn CD, Internet porn is a more serious problem. Internet is not well-controlled by government now and it is not easy to catch the film-makers of Internet online-watching films. So Internet porn is undiscoverable and secret. Even Internet porn can just use software such as MSN to do ‘video chatting’. Some teenage girls as a group are one of the most vulnerable to pornography. They do not think too such. Instead, they just sit in front of a computer and wait for money coming. They do not have conscious of becoming merchandise and the irony is that they are selling themselves! Internet pornography is not only morally wrong, but also causing crime. In Sichuan province of China, a 14-year-old girl was forced to do Internet pornography by a man. If she refused to do so, she would be raped and caned by the man. Obviously, women become goods and victims in pornography.
Furthermore, pornography films are harmful for teenage boys under 18. An article I read before revealed that a 16-year-old boy raped a 7-year-old girl after he watched some pornography films. And the reason is very astounding and unacceptable which is that he just wanted to ‘practice’ and simulate. Once he did that, he lost his future. So pornography poisons teenagers and influenced them negatively. From Internet, teenage boys can easily search and get some pornography films and pictures. Most even all porn websites cannot differentiate from the audience is teenagers or adults, and they also do not care the audience but money. Therefore, some teen boys may not control themselves, and are ultimately trapped by pornography films.
In order to prevent these things from happening once more, we should exercise some form of censorship in this area. Basically, government should have control. I think pornography is morally wrong because it has no respect for women and poisoned teenagers. Therefore, pornography should be totally banned regardless of adults or teenagers.

Democracy creates stability in a society

Democracy is a government system which is used in many countries in the world. In a democracy society, citizens have the right to make decisions of civil issues directly or indirectly. As populace make rules for their country, I think they will be satisfies by the rules, so I think democracy can contribute a part of stability in a society.
Democracy has many advantages and I think it is a good government system relative to totalitarianism. First of all, the center or authority of a democracy society is no longer one person or a group, but citizens. It gives everyone equal rights and no one has a higher position in status. Everyone has right to vote to elect their representatives in indirect way of democracy for example. The representatives are elected by populace and if they cannot do very well, they will be recalled by populace as well. Therefore, citizens have the most might. As a result, because everyone is equal, they will satisfy and there will be fewer conflicts. So democracy can bring a long-term benefit to a society.
However, on the other hand, democracy also has some disadvantages. Firstly, democracy follows might-makes-right mob rule, which means majority impose laws on the minority. The main way of democracy is voting, and as everyone has equality for voting, so the majority will decide the rules. It is apparently a good way. Nevertheless, if the majority is constant, the minority will be in an inferior position. For instance, in Northern Ireland (NI), the Protestants are majority who want the NI to belong to Britain, and the Catholics are minority who want the NI to be a part of Ireland. So this democracy society, when they vote, the result is definitely that NI belongs to Britain. Now we can make a hypothesis: if you were Catholics and most of the rules are decides by Protestants although you were in a democracy society, what would you do? If I were you, I would protest. In this way, it is not ‘democracy’ at all and the so-called ‘democracy’ creates instability.
So we cannot make the conclusion very curtly as democracy has different impacts in different situation. Does democracy create stability in a society? I think it depends on the society itself. Religious conflict such as in Northern Ireland, and Ethnic issue such as in Sri Lanka, also other factors which are economics, education standard and so on can also contribute the stability in a society and democracy is just a method. If a country has bad economics, low education standard, and populace has different needs, although it is democracy, I think it will not be stable. However, if the situation of a country is very good, and it can achieve the populace’s goals, I think the democracy can create stability.
Consequently, I think democracy can contribute a part of stability in a society and it should be advocated as it gives citizens equal rights. And we also need to prepare for solving the conflicts which we will encounter in a democracy society.

My viewpoint about computer games

A 12-year-old Russian boy played the computer games until he died! When I read this news, I was really shocked. How could that happen! It was so unbelievable!
This was the whole thing happened: A boy whose name was Nropb went to Internet bar to play computer games. Unfortunately, he was out of his gourd after 12 hours playing without any warning. Although he was sent to the hospital immediately, he didn’t wake. This tragedy happened because he concentrated on the game overly and he was stressed all the time, so he got faint.
This news makes me to think a lot.
First of all, I consider if the computer games are good. Basically, I treat them as bad things because they can cause lots of negative impacts especially online games. This news is an example and I have another illustration which I can still remember clearly. Before I came to Singapore, I had roughly four months to stay in my home. I wanted to spend some time, so I found a new online computer game. When I started playing this game, I had already thought about what I should do after I went to Singapore. And I made a decision: I could play first. This game was attractive indeed, even I didn’t want to have dinner and spend the time on it instead. At that time, I spent about eight hours per day to play this game and I had a good time. Fifteen days before I came here, I realized that I should stop playing but I found that I could stop. I thought that I could play one more day every day. Five days later, I knew I couldn’t use a gentle method, so I deleted the game. Even I had a dream about it after I deleted it, but time went by, it gradually disappeared in my mind. Now, I tried to stay away from the online games because I knew I dangerous it was! But why people made the games? Because they can give us happiness and excitement, so we can play them a bit and we have to control ourselves to try our best not to play them frequently.
Next, I want to ask that how can a 12-year-old boy go into an Internet bar? It is illegal! In Russia, as well as China, the law is very specific that teenagers who are below 18 years old cannot go into a net bar. Unluckily, many net bars allow them to go because the majority of their customers are teenagers. In this way, they can make more money. I think they should be managed strictly.
In addition, in this news, his parents allowed him to go to the Internet bar as they thought it was OK in Summer Holidays! I think this is his parents’ fault because they shouldn’t allow him to go as it is easy to let their son submerge into Internet, it is quite harmful! He may make bad friends or get some bad habit and a lot of teenagers’ crimes starts at going to Internet!
In a word, I consider that staying away from computer games must be good for us!
